We highly recommend that when using the Population Indicators Tool you use reasonable benchmarks to find areas that may have high need.  The default for each indicator is the national average within our dataset.  Here is a list of state level benchmarks.

Data sources:

  • American Community Survey (ACS), 2015
  • Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS), 2015
  • CDC National Center for Health Statistics, Low Birth Weight Rates per 100 live births -, 2015
  • CDC Wonder, Age-Adjusted Mortality rates per 100,000, 2015 (Note that Puerto Rico data are for 2014; 2015 data not available.)
